Nigel has a superb temperament. He is very attentive to new animals and people, and acts as though everyone is his best friend. He is not skittish or shy. He is protective when need be in true Mastiff fashion, and has proven it at least 3 times in his life so far. He adapts to strange objects and surroundings with ease. So well, in fact, that he is a very reliable therapy dog.

He is very powerful and athletic in addition to being to being structurally sound. He enjoyed competing in the breed ring and showed great enthusiasm to be there. He was famous for letting out one bark to say "Look at me!". He completed his championship owner handled in 8-10 shows and won many BOW against tough competition. He also has a CD title which he obtained in one weekend at 18 months of age. At his 1st National Specialty in 1992 he won best Senior Puppy and won 1st in novice and High In Trial.
